The Maker's Mark 46 Bourbon Whisky was created after 125 experimental approaches to develop the optimum recipe. The breakthrough came with the use of oak stave number 46 from French Limousin oak. These specially selected, lightly toasted staves add additional toasted aromas and a pronounced bourbon vanilla note to the whisky without compromising the mild taste of the original. For the production of Maker's Mark 46, the classic Maker's Mark Bourbon, which is matured for around 6 years, is matured for an additional three quarters of a year in these specially prepared barrels. This careful post-maturing refines the whisky and provides exceptional depth and complexity of flavor, making Maker's Mark 46 an outstanding example of craftsmanship in bourbon production.
